College Grants
In view of the fact that there is a growing shortage of qualified practitioners in nursing in United States, awareness is gradually gaining momentum that apart from enhancing nursing faculty, there is also a need for extending educational incentives and assistance to aspiring students who want to pursue careers in nursing. This applies to both graduate-level students and candidates who wish to study for higher degrees.
Nursing Scholarship Program (US Department of Health and Human Services)
To apply, among other things, you have to be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited school of nursing in a professional registered nurse program (baccalaureate, graduate, associate degree, or diploma). At the time of selection of candidates for grants, preference is accorded to qualified aspirants with the greatest financial need having enrolled full-time in an under-graduate nursing program.

Institutional Grants
In addition to federal grants from Federal Student Aid (FSA) of the United States Department of Education, many colleges provide institutional grants, which mainly aim to fill the gap between the college costs and what a student may be able to meet through family income, savings, loans and student earnings. Besides, institutional grants also come in the form of merit awards or merit scholarships awarded by colleges. On many occasions, grants come tagged with certain obligations. Students are advised to study different types of grants being offered by the colleges.
